Runescape Weapons Review

RuneScape contains a wide selection of weapons. Members are simply spoilt for choice. Which do you think is the best? In this guide, I am going to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of each (non-barrows) weapon. I hope that this guide will aid you in weapon choosing.
Dragon longsword
Quest: Lost City
Price: 75k to 100k
Advantages: The dragon longsword has a good special attack. You can hit relatively high damage with it. Furthermore, the special only drains 25% of the bar. Special also increases accuracy slightly for that hit.
Disadvantages: It is slower than a Scimitar. Appears to have bad accuracy if you have a low attack level(60+). (There were a few times which people activated their specials and hit 0.)
Dragon dagger
Quest: Lost City
Price: Dragon dagger: 30k-40k
Dragon dagger (p): 30k-40k
Dragon dagger (p+): 35k-40k
Dragon dagger (p++): 40k-45k
Advantages: As the saying goes, “a picture tells a thousands words”. You can hit twice at one go, inflicting much higher damage. It has been reported that such a weapon can spec up to 38-38.
Such a weapon can also be poisoned, unlike most other weapons. 6 damage of super poison may not seem much, but it can really do the job. Another way to kill your opponent, eh?
This weapon is also the fastest weapon in RuneScape. When people using two handed weapons hit once, you can already hit twice.
When you activate the special, it only drains 25% of the special bar, so you can spec 4 times before your special runs out!
So, in player vs player combat activities like Castle Wars and the Wilderness, teams can just come up a victim and just spec. The victim can get owned in a matter of seconds.
Have no money? Fret not! The DDS costs a mere 50k at the most!
Disadvantages: “Argh no more special” would be a common sigh from DDSers. Without the special, it is nowhere as powerful. It has a low strength bonus and low accuracy. Therefore it is advisable for you to bring another weapon to accompany this weapon.
Dragon scimitar
Quest: Monkey madness
Price: 95k-100k
Advantages: This curved bladed weapon's strength bonus may not be the best out of all dragon weapons, but it hits more constantly compared to weapons like the Dragon Battleaxe…
This weapon is also awesome for gaining strength experience due to its average accuracy and high speed. Its speed matches that of a dragon dagger!
For those on a tight budget, do not worry as this weapon is generally affordable.
Its special attack prevents players from using protection prayer for 5 seconds(IF HIT)
Disadvantages: Its special attack is not really useful. It has a relatively low strength bonus compared to some weapons.
Abyssal whip
Quest: None.
Price: 1.3M - 1.4 M
Advantages: The Abyssal Whip, more commonly known as a “whip”, packs a great punch. It has a great strength bonus of 82 and great accuracy, argubly one of the best weapons in RuneScape.
Being faster, stronger and more accurate than most weapons, it gives fast Attack and Defence experience.
Its special attack can aid PKers by draining energy. This prevents players from escaping, giving you the precious seconds which can make the difference between life and death.
This weapon is commonly used for PKing, monster killing, castle wars etc.
Best of all, no quest is required to be able to wield this weapon and start owning players.
Disadvantages: Nothing in this world is perfect, and the whip is no exception.
Strength training is slow via controlled. There are only options for training attack [flick], defence and controlled. It is not advisable to train strength using this weapon. (Bad news for strength pures, right?)
The whip also has a low protection rate. Even Dragon Longswords protect over it, so be careful in treacherous areas such as the wilderness.
Requires 70 attack to wield rather than 60 for dragon weapons. The “your Attack level is not high enough to wield this weapon” message is very irritating for lower leveled players, isn't it?
Its special attack does not work on monsters. Furthermore, it is also bad for dueling as what is the point of reducing your opponent's attack during a duel?
Dragon battleaxe
Quest: Heroes Quest
Price: 150k-200k
Advantages: Wanna max out your strength? Here's the perfect weapon for you! Activate the Dragon Battleaxe special and your strength will be raised by 20.5%. You can hit higher than usual.
Besides that, it also has a strength bonus of 85, which is even higher than the Abyssal Whip.
You can use it in conjunction with a Restore Potion to enjoy a boosted strength with no other stat drops.
This weapon is also relatively cheap and not bad for strength training.
Can be used together with Salve amulet/Black mask for an impressive 35% strength boost which can be furthered by using strength prayers! And in the case of a Salve amulet(e), it is a whopping 40% Strength Bonus!
